Expensive clothes
Stories for kids in English
Once upon a time there was a king lived in a state called Ramnagar. His name was Harivansh. Harivansh was fond of wearing different types of expensive clothes. He always wore new and expensive clothes. One day the king said in the court - "I want unique and most beautiful clothes." Whoever gives me beautiful and unique clothes, I will give him a lot of gold coins.’’
This talk of the king spread throughout the city. Everyone came to the king's court and started showing beautiful and unique clothes. But the king did not like any of them. A poor weaver also lived in the same city. He went to the king and said - "My Lord! I have very beautiful and unique clothes. I have clothes that can see only those who are intelligent, only they can see them. ’’ The king said to him - "Okay you show me those clothes."
Then weaver Removes a old box and opens it. Then he speaks to the king- "My lord! This box has the most beautiful and expensive clothes." But the king was not able to see those clothes. Then the weaver says - “My lord! You can try them on. These clothes will look beautiful on you.” The king wears them and asks his minister - "Do you like these clothes?" But the minister was not even able to see the clothes. He felt that if he said that he could not see clothes, then everyone would consider him foolish. Thinking so, he thought it appropriate to say yes. He told the king - "My lord! These clothes look beautiful on you. ’’ The king becomes happy and gives a lot of gold coins to the poor weaver. The weaver was happy and goes from there.
The king goes out for a walk in the city wearing
clothes. But the town’s people were laughing at the king. The king could not
understand why people were laughing at him. He returns to his palace. The king
came to know that the weaver has made him fool. The king immediately ordered
his soldiers to take the weaver with him. But the weaver had already run away
from the city.
